Energy Audit Connecticut: Available Programs

Energize CT – Home Energy Solutions

There are a few solutions for Connecticut residents looking for a home energy audit. 

One of the most-recommended programs is Energize CT, or Energize Connecticut. Energize CT is an initiative of the Energy Efficiency Fund, the Connecticut Green Bank, your state, and your local utilities.

You can get an energy assessment and about $1,000 in on-the-spot energy fixes through Home Energy Solutions. You’ll receive custom recommendations and access to rebates and incentives to make your home more efficient and cut down on energy waste.

Plus, certain customers may qualify for Home Energy Solutions – Income Eligible Program (HES-IE) which provides families with a no-cost energy assessment.

Energy Audit NJ: New Jersey Programs

Live in Jersey? You’re in luck. Depending on your energy provider, there are quite a few audit programs available in your state. And these are just a few of them!

New Jersey Clean Energy

New Jersey’s Cleaner Energy Program provides a robust listing of initiatives that might be available to you. Several energy-efficiency programs for existing homes have transitioned to the utility companies, so now you’ll work with your utility company directly to get a home energy audit in some cases.

PSE&G NJ Energy Audits

You can get a home energy assessment through PSE&G NJ, but the utility offers more programs to customers in addition to the audit.

  • Quick Home Energy Check-up
    • Get free expert advice on improving your home’s energy efficiency—and have energy-saving products installed at no- to- low cost.
  • Home Weatherization Program for Income-Qualified Customers
    • Based on your income level, you may be eligible to receive a free energy efficiency inspection to identify energy-saving opportunities all around your home. Depending on your home’s needs, you also may be eligible for installation of up to $6,000 in energy- efficiency upgrades and up to $1,500 in health and safety improvements—all at no cost to you.

Atlantic City Electric

Atlantic City Electric also offers energy assessments, aka home energy audits, and energy-saving programs to customers as well.

Jersey Central Power & Light

  • Home Energy Analyzer – Online Audit
    • The Home Energy Analyzer is a simple, convenient tool customers can use to save energy and money. Complete a few easy steps to gain a better understanding of your household energy use and identify ways to improve the efficiency. 
    • Customers will need to register for an online account to access the Home Energy Analyzer.  This allows Jersey Central to determine solutions that will work best for your household.
  • Home Performance with ENERGY STAR
    • Customers can get a comprehensive audit performed by a participating BPI certified auditor at a single family or multifamily residence. The certified auditor will recommend improvements and provide you with a detailed report on the potential energy savings. And depending on your situation, you might qualify for rebates for recommended home improvements.
  • Home Weatherization for Income-Qualified Customers
    • The Home Weatherization for Income Qualified Customers initiative is a no-cost in-home assessment and may include energy- efficiency improvements like adding insulation, air sealing your home, and the installation of energy saving products all at no cost to the customer.

Orange & Rockland

Orange & Rockland offers a few rebates and energy-waste-reducing incentives for New Jersey customers.

New Jersey Natural Gas Energy

As a PECO customer, you have a couple of options for home energy assessments.

  • Energy Assessments
    • PECO is currently offering two ways for you to save money and learn more about your home’s energy use: an in-home or virtual energy assessment. At a $150 value, these assessments only take 1–2 hours.
  • Free Energy Checkup
    • Free Energy Checkups are available for Income Qualified Customers.

Empower Maryland

Empower Maryland offers home energy assessments to the utilities listed below to identify areas in your home that cause discomfort and high energy bills.

Empower Maryland Quick Home Energy Check-Up

This informative assessment will identify ways to improve your home’s energy efficiency, save money and enjoy a more comfortable home. Maryland residents can take advantage of this at no out of pocket costs, as the charge is included in their utility bill. Find out more here at Energy.Maryland.gov.

Empower Maryland Comprehensive Energy Audit

A comprehensive energy audit is offered to Maryland residents by participating contractors and can help homeowners understand how to save money and energy while living comfortably. It also allows homeowners to qualify for valuable Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® rebates (HPwES). 

The total cost for the comprehensive energy audit is $400, but the homeowner contribution is only $100. The energy auditors will inspect and test your home from top to bottom, usually in 2-3 hours.

Virginia

Appalachian Power

Appalachian Power offers a Home Energy Assessment audit at no cost to their customers. Homeowners will have to use a certified contractor, but will be eligible for rebates once the audit is complete. 

Dominion Energy

Similar to Maryland, Dominion Energy offers a Quick Home Energy Check-Up and Comprehensive Energy Audit for Virgina Homeowners. The Comprehensive Energy Audit allows homeowners to qualify for thousands in rebates. 

Powell Valley Electric Cooperative

Powell Valley Electric Co-op offers customers a free Home Energy Assessment to assess their usage and problem areas, while providing an energy savings kit that is full of energy saving technology. 

Local Energy Alliance Program

The local energy alliance program helps Virginia residents reduce energy use in their home through various audit options. Each audit option has a fee, but certain counties allow low income customers to participate at no cost.

Washington D.C. 

Appalachian Power

Appalachian Power offers a Home Energy Assessment audit at no cost to their customers. Homeowners will have to use a certified contractor, but will be eligible for rebates once the audit is complete.
