New York State Clean Heat rebates
The New York State Clean Heat program is a statewide coordinated effort by all investor-owned electric utilities (except PSEG LI), to provide rebates to customers and contractors for installing heat pumps in residential homes.
Rebate amounts—along with the application process—may vary based on your utility.
If you’re eligible to get your home upgrades with Sealed, we match you with certified contractors to complete the work and enroll you in the program and rebate on your behalf. (And if you qualify for the rebate, we’ll include it as a discount off of your total project cost.)
Rebates can include upgrades such as:
- Heat pumps: We like to affectionately call them the Tesla of HVAC
- Integrated controls: This is when your contractor sets your heat pump as your primary heating source. You keep your existing heating system as a backup on extremely cold days.
- Decommissioning: A fancy word for when your contractor disconnects or removes your existing heating equipment after you replace it with a cold climate heat pump.
- Heat pump water heaters: About 19% of the average home’s energy consumption is for water heating alone. Heat pump water heaters can help cut energy waste!

Orange & Rockland, NYSEG, RG&E, and National Grid heat pump rebates
There are heat pump rebates available to current Orange & Rockland, NYSEG, RG&E, and National Grid customers for cold climate air-source heat pumps.
If you are a National Grid customer, you can receive an additional 25% in financial incentives if you’re located in a gas-constrained area.
Plus, this group of utilities offer higher incentives when you install integrated controls to your heat pump system or decommission an existing fossil fuel system. Rebate amounts vary by scope and are based on your energy savings.

Bonus rebate for eligible Sealed customers in NY
Starting July 1, 2023, select NYSEG or RGE gas and electric customers are eligible for a $1,000 rebate when upgrading their home through Sealed.

Con Edison heat pump rebates
If you’re a Con Edison customer, you must install integrated controls or decommission an existing fossil fuel system to qualify for Clean Heat rebates.
Rebates are based on a per home basis and are capped at 50% of the project cost.
Orange & Rockland, NYSEG, RG&E, and National Grid heat pump water heater rebates
If you’re a customer of this group of utilities, there are heat pump water heater rebates available ranging from $800 to $1,100 if you’re eligible.
These NY heat pump water heater rebates are applied at the point of purchase.
PSEG Long Island energy rebates
PSEG Long Island offers home energy upgrade rebates for completing HVAC and weatherization upgrades and purchasing ENERGY STAR certified appliances.
Here’s a quick list of PSEG Long Island energy rebates that are available, but we’ll cover a few more in depth below:

Rebate amounts vary and are based on your energy savings. And heat pumps must be installed by a certified Home Comfort contractor (and Sealed can help!).

PSEG LI weatherization, insulation, and air sealing rebates
The PSEG LI Home Performance with ENERGY STAR program offers rebates for insulation, air sealing, and duct sealing.
To qualify, you must complete an energy audit (including a blower door test) to be eligible for incentives.
During your comprehensive home energy assessment, a certified PSEG LI contractor will explain what improvements can be made.
20 to 30% of the air that moves through duct systems is lost due to leaks, holes, and poorly connected ducts.

PSEG LI ENERGY STAR heat pump water heater rebates
PSEG LI offers $1,000 off the installation of an ENERGY STAR certified electric heat pump water Heater. Beginning in 2021, homeowners are limited to one electric heat pump water heater rebate every 5 years.
PSEG LI dehumidifier rebate
PSEG LI customers also have access to a rebate for ENERGY STAR certified dehumidifiers.

NYSERDA Comfort Home rebates
The NYSERDA Comfort Home program offers rebates for completing weatherization measures.
The program offers “packages” ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 based on the work completed.
The rebate is available to those who live in select New York counties and complete their work with an approved contractor.
If you’re eligible to get your home upgrades with Sealed, we match eligible customers with certified contractors to complete the work and enroll you in the rebate program on your behalf. And if you qualify for the rebate, we’ll include it as a discount off your project costs.

NYSERDA weatherization, insulation, and air sealing rebates
NYSERDA offers rebates based on the number of measures installed per project.
At a minimum, to be eligible you must air seal and insulate the attic and rim joists.
Rebates increase as additional measures are added, and they’re ultimately capped at $4,000 when you install the above retrofits, insulate the walls and floors, and install ENERGY STAR windows throughout the home.

NYSERDA bonus rebates for heat pump installs
Additional incentives may be available for heat pump installation if done within 24 months of completing the work.
Another win? Con Ed Westchester customers are eligible to combine the $1,000 Con Edison Residential Weatherization Rebate with the NYSERDA Comfort Home rebate, bringing total potential incentives for Westchester Homeowners up to $2,000–3,500.
National Grid Total Comfort Home rebates
National Grid offers residential energy rebates for New York homeowners who purchase and install energy efficient home improvements and appliances.
Here’s a quick look at National Grid Total Comfort Home energy rebates that are available:

National Grid weatherization, insulation, and air sealing rebates
The National Grid Total Home Comfort Program is for National Grid gas customers seeking home energy rebates who live in Long Island and New York City.
The program offers customers and participating partners (including Sealed) performance-based incentives for installing home weatherization measures. This means the financial incentives can increase the more energy the project is expected to save.
Sealed is a certified partner in the Total Home Comfort Program. That means we work directly with National Grid and their partner, Leidos, to process and enroll you in the program if you’re eligible.
As part of the program, you may be selected for an on-site or virtual quality-assurance review before receiving a rebate amount. For that reason, when you work with Sealed to install your energy upgrades, we take your rebate off the sticker price—which lowers monthly payments.

National Grid smart home rebates
National Grid offers rebates for ENERGY STAR certified homes. If your home is new, your home builder will be able to provide certification based on certain requirements met by new construction homes.
Con Edison rebates
If you’re a Con Edison customer, there are quite a few rebates available to you when you make energy-saving home upgrades.
Here’s a quick look at Con Edison rebates that are available to New York homeowners:
- Cold climate air-source heat pumps (with integrated controls or decommissioning)
- Smart thermostats
- Air sealing
- Insulation
Con Edison Residential Weatherization Program rebates
The Con Edison Residential Rebate Program offers their customers $1,000 for completing air sealing and insulation measures in their home.
To qualify, you must:
- Be an active Con Ed gas or electric customer,
- Heat your home with natural gas, heating oil, or propane, and
- If you’re a Con Ed electric customer who heats your home with oil or propane, you must have central air conditioning
Homeowners must have the work installed by a participating contractor. Sealed is a participator in the program and can directly apply for the rebate on your behalf (making the whole process easier for you!). For that reason, we take your rebate off the sticker price which lowers monthly payments.
Con Edison Westchester bonus rebates
Are you a Con Edison Westchester customer? If so, you’re eligible to combine the $1,000 Con Edison Residential Weatherization Rebate with NYSERDA’s Comfort Home rebate. Three cheers for bonuses!

Orange and Rockland (O&R) provides rebates to their customers for installing energy efficiency insulation, air sealing, heat pumps, and appliances.

Orange and Rockland offers homeowners $45 off of their purchase of a Wi-Fi thermostat. The thermostat must have programmable features and control a central air conditioner and heat pump or a system that operates on a boiler or furnace.
Orange and Rockland weatherization rebates
Sealed’s partnership with Orange and Rockland (O & R) unlocks a unique rebate for homeowners.
This rebate is only available to homeowners that work with Sealed and are an O & R electric and/or gas customer.

Solar incentives NY: Solar grants for New York homeowners
If you’re exploring going solar in New York, there are a few financial incentives available.
However, before you make the big investment in solar panels (go you!) make sure your house is using energy as efficiently as possible by completing home weatherization and upgrading to an energy efficient heat pump. (If not, your house is just wasting energy in a new way.)
NY-Sun Solar Program
The State of New York offers incentives to homeowners for installing solar panels through the NY-Sun Program.
The amounts vary by region and are based on your energy savings.
The state provides a live dashboard of current rebate levels per region.
Affordable Solar
The NY-Sun program offers increased incentives for homeowners earning less than 80% of the median income in the area. This program requires additional home energy upgrades and proof of income to qualify.
New York Energy $mart Solar-Electric System Incentive Program
The New York Energy $mart Solar-Electric System Incentive Program allows for eligible Orange and Rockland electric customers to receive incentives to help fund the installation of photovoltaic systems.
The system must be smaller than 25 kW and installed by a certified contractor.
New York solar sales tax exemption
For the New York solar sales tax exemption, residents of certain counties in New York can to purchase PV equipment—including panels, batteries, inverters and more—with 0% sales tax to lower the upfront costs.
Energy Conservation Improvements Property Tax Exemption
The State of New York has established limits on property tax increases when solar panels are installed, as solar panels can increase the value of your home.
