re: Sealed response to COVID-19

To the Sealed community,

At Sealed, we care deeply about the health and safety of our team members, customers, and contractor partners. We are following the development of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic closely. 

Our hearts go out to the people who have been, and continue to be affected by this crisis. We are eternally grateful to the healthcare providers, first responders, essential workers, and other everyday heroes who are braving dangerous situations to keep all of us safe. 

Our top priority, now and always, is the wellbeing of everyone in our community. And even during these challenging times, we are focused on fulfilling our mission to unlock the potential of every home to power lives and shelter families. 

The comforts of home are more important than ever. Our home upgrade projects benefit the planet by significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions. And critically, hundreds of livelihoods – at Sealed and throughout our local contractor network – depend on our success. 

Because much of the Sealed process is built on virtual experiences, we are fortunate to be able to remotely serve homeowners who are in need of our offerings. As of March 20, we have moved to a virtual process (detailed below) for all new customer interactions until further notice.

Homeowners can continue to take our qualification quiz online. Our Home Comfort Specialists are available for free phone consultations. And our Solution Architects are trained and ready to virtually design, confirm and schedule future home upgrade plans. 

There are, of course, some aspects of our service that normally require in-person interaction, namely, verifying homeowners’ upgrade plans with a home visit, and project installation. 

Our virtual verification option to confirm home upgrade plans will now be standard practice for all homeowners. All previously scheduled in-home visits with contractors have been moved to our virtual process. We will be working with our contractor partners to re-schedule previously planned installations for April 13 or later. 

I want to express my appreciation to Sealed’s contractor partners. We’re grateful to be working together, and we are committed to supporting your businesses during this time.

Sealed COVID-19 Guidelines

Our response principles

  • We put the health of our community first, always, and especially now.
  • We will continue to follow any local, state, regional and national guidelines, and update our plans accordingly. 
  • We remain committed to the comfort and safety of home, to protecting our planet, and to supporting the hundreds of livelihoods connected to our business and our local contractor partners. 
  • We will expand our best-in-class virtual customer experiences to safely support homeowners in evaluating the improvements their homes need.
  • We aim to be a resource to homeowners by providing communications and educational content that is sensitive to the COVID-19 situation, and helps keep us all comfortable, healthy, safe and energy efficient at home during this challenging time.

Changes to our process

Qualify

Our free qualification quiz has always been, and continues to be, online.

Consult

We will continue to design preliminary home upgrade plans for qualified homeowners via our unique virtual phone consultation process that does not involve in-home visits by Sealed or contractor personnel.

Verify 

Our virtual verification option for home upgrade plans is now standard for all homeowners. Through this process, homeowners can work with our solution architects to confirm the accuracy of their home upgrade plans using a guided online tool. New customers who complete virtual verification will be given the opportunity to join our installation waitlist.

Install

We will not be installing any projects until at least April 13.  Homeowners who have signed agreements have the option to schedule installation further out or to be added to the waitlist.

Safety Guidelines

Sealed is following all COVID-19 guidance from federal, state, and local authorities. We are recommending that all employees, homeowners, and contractor partners do the same. 

As of March 20, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced new safety guidelines under the “New York State on PAUSE” Executive Order, which among its 10 points requires all nonessential workers to stay home. 

In line with this order, all Sealed employees are mandated to work from home. All of our home upgrade plan verification activities are being conducted virtually, and all existing project installations have been rescheduled to a later date.

We ask that all members of the Sealed community follow the safety guidelines of New York State and the Centers for Disease Control, including frequent hand washing, frequent cleaning of surfaces, social distancing of at least 6 ft, and staying home other than to buy food or seek medical care.
